Wedding Tintypes

New in 2025 – tintype services for weddings.

Back in the Victorian era couples went straight from their wedding ceremony to the Alchemist to have a tintype photograph taken. For many people this was the only photograph they ever posed for!

Even today photography is an important part of most couple’s wedding day. I have been doing wedding photography for many years as a digital photographer. As I move more into historic techniques I am offering wedding tintypes in 2025.

Victorian wedding photography is a natural for couples who want a unique heirloom portrait. Dating back over to the 1850’s there are many tintypes still around and looking as good as the day they were taken.

I expect my offerings to evolve as the year goes by. I will adjust as I gain experience and learn with my clients. Here are my services for a start:

Day of Portraits $400

A one hour session on the day of your wedding
3 to 4 tintypes – 8x10inch
8×12 or 12×12 tintypes for an additional $50

Friends & Family $750

Wedding couple portraits – 3-4 8x10inch tintypes
Additional 2 hours of 5×7 portraits of family and special guests
Typically 8-10 5×7 tintypes total
Upgrade to larger tintypes for $50-$150

Post Wedding Session $500

Extended session after the wedding for just the couple
About a 2 hour session
Up to 6 tintype portraits
Choice of sizes from 5×7, 8×10, 8×12 or 12×12

Day of Portrait – $400

A one hour session on the day of your wedding. We can expect 3 or 4 tintypes in our session. Based on 8×10 tintypes and we can also do 8×12 and 12×12 formats an additional $50. Includes travel in the Fox Valley area to a location of your choosing. Local pickup preferred and I can ship at my current cost.

Friends & Family Portraits – $200/hour

This would be an an add-on to the “Day of Portrait” where we would capture portraits of your family and special guests. Once we are set we can make 4 or more portraits an hour so this option is priced on an hourly basis. Based on 5×7 Tintypes and we can also do 8×10 Tintypes for an additional $100/hour. Local pickup of finished images preferred and I can ship current USPS or UPS cost.

Post wedding portrait session – $500

A chance to dress up again and capture memories without time or location constraints. Sessions last up to 2 hours and we would create up to 6 portraits. Includes your choice of 5×7, 8×10, 8×12 and 12×12 tintypes.
