Cue the dramatic music, then fade in the video… the deep voiced narrator says “He is a man so interesting that people fall asleep two hours before he shows up to the party…”

Stop laughing and let’s answer who am I and why do I love Victorian era photography?

I am a social butterfly and love parties and weddings and any chance to get to know other people. I love people and I think everyone has a divine spark, even if some people hide it really well.

My goal is to try and capture your spark. I want other people to see it in your portrait!

Why Victorian photography? Digital photography has never been so easy. Everyone walks around with a camera in their pocket. Digital cameras are amazing tools and I use them to capture weddings and video. But there is a downside to all this – digital photos are fleeting.. you glance at them on a tiny screen and then flick to the next, and the next and the next.

Historic methods of photography are deliberate and slow. A more human pace and thoughtful contemplation of the image takes the place of “click click” and “swipe swipe swipe”. We’re not just making a portrait, we’re having a conversation and making a connection!

This is when that inner spark has time to come out and be captured.

I make images in pure Silver, Gold, and sometimes a bit of iron. They have a depth and quality no digital printer can reproduce. They invite contemplation and reflection; people will talk about the story behind it for years to come. The connection we make in our session will be captured in an image. That connection will be expanded to include friends and family when they see your image. It is no surprise that images taken 150 years ago are still impacting modern people.
