At Sun and Silver.photo we are committed to creating real analog images using Victorian era methods. Everything we make is hand made by us or by one of our local partners.

This commitment to authenticity goes for both our physical products and our websites and social media. When you buy one of our photographs you are getting something we made with our hands and not something spitted out by a machine! When you see an image here or on social, that image is of a real object and was not computer generated from ones and zeros!

So when you see something on our website this is how we made the image:

• We use either a digital camera or a flat bed scanner to create a digital copy of the wet plate object or contact print
• The digital file is edited in Adobe Lightroom to create an image that duplicates as closely as possible the real life appearance of the work
• Wet plate photographs tend to be really shiny and difficult to photograph. So we edit the appearance to try and compensate for flaws in the capture. For example, tiny dust specks get magnified in our scanner so specs you can’t see in person become huge on the computer screen. So we use filter them out in Lightroom or Photoshop.
• Our handmade prints sometimes use negatives from a digital camera. The digital images is always edited in a computer. We even do an occasional composition or digital art work, but the source is always a human hand and never computer generated fakes.
• We sometimes post videos or galleries of portraits made with our digital camera. All of these images are real scenes and real happenings that we captured with our cameras.

Every image on our website has a real physical object as its source!

If you see it here then there is an object you can hold in your hands – a print, a tintype, a glass Ambrotype, a wood frame… something that exists in the real world.

So when we say “real images for real people” we mean it!
